Division I

The Walter Johnson boys can essentially wrap up the division with a win over Sherwood this week and it couldn't come down to two more evenly matched teams. It's impossible to predict what these coaches will do, but I attempted to score out this meet and came up with a score of WJ 69, Sherwood 68. Throw in a quality Georgetown Prep team and this will be a fun meet to watch.

The Churchill girls will be up against B-CC this week. The meet should have some good distance races, but Churchill should clean up in the sprints, hurdles, and field. If Sherwood defeats Walter Johnson this week, then they will have the opportunity to win the division outright with a win over Churchill next week...just a day before both teams head to the Penn Relays.

Division II

The Northwest girls should cruise to the division title after handily defeating Wootton before spring break. Wootton should improve to 3-1 against Blake and Watkins Mill this week. This should set up a good meet between undefeated Whitman and Wootton next week.

Northwest and Blair next week should determine the boys division champion.

Division III

Clarksburg boys and girls should wrap up the division this week after their third tri meet of the season.

Division IV

The Paint Branch girls can win the division with victories over Seneca Valley and Quince Orchard. Given their performance so far this year, the double win seems likely.

The division is on the line as undefeated Damascus (boys) hosts undefeated Gaithersburg (boys) in the only Thursday meet of the week. Gaithersburg would be the stronger team at a state championship, but Damascus is going to give them a run in the dual meet format. Damascus will probably score the majority of the points in the sprints and relays and is capable of scoring some points in distance, throwing, and hurdle events. Gaithersburg will need to minimize Damascus's scoring opportunity in these events and win the events they are supposed to win.

The girls matchup should be equally compelling as both teams suffered close losses to Paint Branch earlier this season. Damascus is going to take the hurdles and the majority of the points in the field. Gaithersburg will be stronger in the sprints and have Abby Spitler who can win all three distance events, but Damascus will hang around with their depth in every event.

i would not assume Abby wins all 3 distance events... Alex Carroll may give her a good race.
