Maryland National Guard Games History | |
Contested from 1963 to 2000, the Maryland National Guard Games, aka the Maryland National Guard Scholastic Invitational, was one of the longest running high school indoor track meets in Maryland history. Sponsored by the Maryland National Guard and hosted at the Baltimore 5th Regiment Armory, the track surface was never conducive to fast times. Teams flocked to the National Guard Games from all over Maryland anyways for what was one of the most elite high school indoor meets in Maryland for almost 40 years.
Prior to the Maryland Indoor Track State Championship Meet which started in 1972, the Maryland National Guard Games at the Baltimore Armory was sometimes referred to as the indoor track Maryland Championship Meet, but it was not sponsored by the Maryland Secondary Schools Athletic Association. |
