As I updated Mocorunning's outdoor county championship meet record book for next year, the following were notable revisions to the record book which monitors the top 25 performances in meet history for each event and maintains lists of every county champion in each event.

While it should be getting harder to enter Mocorunning's County Championship Meet Record Book, 2024 smashed every other year for record book entries. There were 186 new entries from 2024 as opposed to other great years: there are 145 entries remaining from 2014 and 129 entries remaining from 2023.

A wind meter was used for the first time at the Montgomery County Championship Meet. It proved prudent because it validated several top 10 performances and meet records as wind-legal. Mocorunning's record book will continue to rank performances as "all-condition" performances due to the 40+ year history of the meet without wind instrumentation.

It was the 1st outdoor county title won by the Paint Branch boys. 87 points was the highest point total in meet history for the Paint Branch boys.

On the girls side, it was Blake High School's second outdoor county title in three years.

3rd place was the highest finish in meet history for the Wheaton girls. 52 points was the highest point total in meet history for the Wheaton girls.

Nicholas Spikes of Paint Branch High School became the first boy in meet history to win 6 career outdoor county titles in individual events: 100m and 200m in 2022, 200m and 400m in 2023, 200m and 400m in 2024.

Mateo Gros-Slovinsky of Whitman High School became the first boy to pull off the distance triple in winning the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Sally Glynn and Abigail Green of Walter Johnson accomplished the same feat in the girls division in a single day format in 1994 and 2018, respectively.

Brooke Cochran of Blake High School joined a club of 19 girls to win 5 or more outdoor county titles in her high school career: 100m and 200m in 2022, 200m and 400m in 2023, and 200m in 2024.

Grace Finnegan of Richard Montgomery won her fourth career outdoor county title. Just 7 of 29 girls to win four outdoor county titles while in high school would be considered distance athletes. Finnegan won her third consecutive 800-meter county title outdoors in 2024 on top of a 1600-meter title in 2023.

Iyanni Daley of Wheaton was voted the female James DeMoss award winner. She won the 100m (12.03) and contributed to the winning 4x100 (47.55). She was 200-meter and 4x200-meter runner-up.

Nicholas Spikes and Roman Spikes of Paint Branch combined to break meet records in the 100m (10.53, Roman), 200m (20.92, Nicholas), 400m (47.01, Nicholas), and 4x200m relay (1:25.13). Nicholas Spikes was voted by coaches as the James DeMoss athlete of the meet (he also won the award two years ago as a sophomore).

On a percentage basis, the boys 4x200 relay time of 1:25.13 is the farthest time ahead of the #2 performance in meet history among all running events. Some field events are stronger on a percentage basis. The math is the absolute value of ((the #2 performance in meet history) minus (the #1 performance in meet history)) divided by (the #2 performance). (1:28.23-1:25.13)/(1:28.23) or (88.23-85.13)/88.23 = 3.5%.

The Paint Branch boys 4x200 performances this season, and going sub 1:25, is the most impressive boys relay performance that I've seen in the last 25+ years
