Below you will find the results for the poll conducted on mocorunning.com between October 6 and October 12, 2008. 63 votes were received for girls individuals. Voters were required to vote for exactly ten different girls in order for their vote to count.

10. Shayna Barbash - Whitman 2010

Shayna Barbash has followed up her break out sophomore year with a steadily improving junior year. She dropped under 20 minutes at the Oatlands Invitational before running a big PR of 19:19 at the Paul Short Invitational. She will be looking to improve on last year's 19th place county performance.

9. Anna Bosse - Walter Johnson 2011

Anna Bosse has gone from good to great in a short period of time. She dropped a PR of 19:19 at the Octoberfest Invitational before running a very fast 15:26 5th place 2.5 mile at the Manhattan Invitational last weekend. She has begun to beat some of the runners that she was not close to last year. By voting her to 9th in this poll, county fans are saying, "Betchya can't do it again."

8. Maryam Fikri - Churchill - 2010

Maryam Fikri has performed consistently throughout the year with all four of her major invitational races under 20 minutes. Her personal best time of 19:11 ranks her 5th in the county based on time alone. She will return to the county championship in search of that first elusive top ten finish after finishing 17th and 15th the last two years.

7. Alyssa Henshaw - Northwest 2010

Alyssa Henshaw returns to the county championship where last year her season ended in disappointment. She has been hot the last three weeks clocking a time of 19:17 at Paul Short and 19:11 at Glory Days. If anybody (or everybody) has a bad day, she will be right there to take advantage.

6. Aimee Moores - Quince Orchard 2009

Aimee Moores has run three major invitationals in under 20 minutes this year. She has placed right in the thick of the county leaders in every race she has run. The senior has not had a bad race this year. Her consistency has helped her team develop into one of the best this season.

5. Anna Ryba - Whitman 2012

Anna Ryba jumped right in with the county leaders from her very first race and never backed down. Through seven races, she has been as consistent as anyone, but always expect the unexpected when it comes to a talented freshman. Her season best time of 19:17 at Paul Short puts her right in the mix.

4. Addie Tousley - B-CC 2009

Addie Tousley usually has one of her best races of the year at the county championship as she showed last year with her 8th place 19:09 finish. The hopeful 3A state champion will be looking to improve on that, especially after a breakout 18:56 at the Paul Short Invitational, a time faster than all six other girls on this list who were there that day.

3. Jessie Rubin - Wootton 2010

In the past week, Jessie Rubin has shown that she is in the best shape of all county competitors. She clocked an impressive 19:05 on a difficult Lake Needwood course and followed that up with an 18:45 run at Glory Days, topping Spitler, Eckerstrom, Moores, and Henshaw. As good of shape as she's in, she has still never won a major race. She will need to prove that she can run away from the other girls early or outkick them in the end.

2. Britt Eckerstrom - Northwest 2011

The untouchable Britt Eckerstrom from last year has had trouble staying on top this year with a few uninspired races. She has also had a few outstanding races such as her 6th place performance against an elite field at Oatlands. Remember she ran her best at the end of the season last year. She has just as good of a chance of winning this race as anyone else.

1. Abby Spitler - Gaithersburg 2010

There was no doubt who was the best runner in the county after her wins at the Peter Geraghty and Magruder Invitationals in September. Abby Spitler beat everybody who was anybody in the first two weeks of the season, but has cooled off after an uncharacteristically low finish at Glory Days last weekend. Will she regain county supremacy on her home course on Saturday? Only time will tell.

Kevin, I don't really understand your last sentence about Anna Bosse. Is it suppose to sound positive or negative?

I'm hinting that I think she is a little bit better than ninth, but the voters remain unconvinced.

Theyre all a talented group. Its anyones race. Theyre several girls not listed who might surprise us and remember this was just a top 10. Its hard to include everyone and we all have our favorites so go girls! The list will be different in the morning
