A few meets from last week were postponed due to inclimate weather. As far as I know, none of those meets were rescheduled to this week, but email me if I'm wrong. Division titles are on the line in divisions I and IV this week, but with the Penn Relays looming, we will see which teams rest and which teams go all out. Remember to email results to webmaster@mocorunning.com.

Division I

Sherwood boys defeated WJ last week making them the final undefeated team in the division. Unfortunately for them they still need to go through a strong Churchill team. Churchill went easy on WJ in the first week and suffered a loss, but they can still force a three way tie by defeating Sherwood. In that case, the team with the most points in dual meets would win the division. I'll pick Churchill in this one, but it should be close.

Churchill girls will win the division with wins over Wheaton and Sherwood, which they should be able to do. Sherwood can only win the division with wins over Churchill and Wheaton and a Churchill loss to Wheaton.

Division II

The Blair and Northwest boys are undefeated in divisional meets, but Northwest will be the only undefeated team in division II at the end of this meet. The meet between Blair, Northwest and Blake will have some awesome races, but Northwest is the complete package. Blair has been very quiet lately, which has me a little uneasy about my confidence in Northwest.

Division III

The Richard Montgomery tri meet with Clarksburg got post-poned last week, and therefore Clarksburg won't win the division until next week. In the mean time Einstein and Springbrook will meet for the second consecutive week with Northwood thrown into the mix. I doubt the outcome will be much different.

Rockville hosts RM and Magruder and I have a feeling the Rockets are ready on the boys side. Magruder girls will be tough to beat this week. Magruder is one of the few teams not heading up to the Penn Relays.

Division IV

The Paint Branch girls wrapped up the toughest division in Montgomery County last week with wins over SV and QO in miserable weather. I personally can't wait to see what Paint Branch is going to do at Penn this week. Good luck!

That means the showdown of the week is QO and Poolesville at Gaithersburg. If anyone can bring down the mighty Trojans it is Quince Orchard. Marcus Brown and Sean Stanley will meet head to head fresh off of Brown's amazing 165 discus / 58-04 shot put performance. But how much will rain be a factor for these guys? These throwing contests should be on pay-per-view. Hopefully I will be there to get the video to you for free (if it isn't raining too much or too dark).

Of course Gaithersburg kills their opponents in the jumps as well as the throwing events, but Jacob Adedeji is no slouch in the jumping events and will put a dent in Gaithersburg's field-event-monopoly. I give QO the edge in the sprints with Travis Hawkins and company dropping fast times recently. Gaithersburg's Vikas Bhatia and Shane Stepek may be a step ahead of QO's Conor Spaulding in the distance events and of course Gaithersburg owns the hurdles. Does that mean the meet might come down to Wayne Bartholomew vs. Antonio Palmer? I'll see you there.

I checked out the mag/rm/rville thinking I would see similar things and RM would rock the colonels. But, all I have to say is that magruder is back! Those girls sprinters are just sick and the boys are coming....Coach Timm keep doing what you are doing. The kids are getting that attitude, behavior, and academics are a big deal!

Results from Wootton vs Whitman are wrong. Jessie Rubin beat Shayna Barbash in the mile. Jessie got about 5:23 and Shayna finished about 8 seconds later...

RM boys distance was looking pretty good, it seemed like they should have been able to score more points for the 3200 with another fast runner or two in it. Magruder girls owned deep in the sprints.
