Records in danger: MoCo athletes are right on the cusp of breaking several meet records.
Boys 500m - After reportedly being sick for a week, Northwood's Eldon Phillips recorded a 1:05.79 500m performance at the Montgomery Invitational. Richard Montgomery's Seydi Sall got a late start to the season but recorded a 49.78 400m and 35.99 300m in recent weeks. The two could push each other under the meet record of 1:05.09.
Boys 800m - Eldon Phillips of Northwood (1:55.43) and Garrett Suhr of Richard Montgomery (1:56.60) have already gone under the meet record of 1:57.56 this season. Ryan Lockett of Poolesville (4:13.60 mile) is expected to be in the race.
Boys 1600m/3200m - Poolesville's Ryan Lockett (4:13.60 mile, 9:22.37 3200m) has already gone under meet records in both the 1600 (4:20.09) and 3200m (9:29.67). He is expected to compete in the 1600m, 3200m, and 800m so it will be interesting to see if any meet records fall. B-CC's Adam Nakasaka (9:24.86) has already gone under the meet record in the 3200m, and Richard Montgomery's Garrett Suhr (4:20.30c) is close to the record in the 1600.
Boys High Jump - Northwest's Divinus Muteba has already matched the meet record in the high jump (6-07) this season.
Girls 500m - Serena Harrison of Blake High School (1:16.50) has approached the meet record of 1:16.26.
Girls 800m - Blair Morgan Casey ran 2:16.22 to win the 800m state title outdoors and has demonstrated fitness so far this season with a 2:19.26. The record of 2:17.96 is within reach.
Girls 1600m, 3200m - Abigail Green of Walter Johnson (10:49.99 3200m) has already run faster than the 3200m meet record of 10:53.70. She also nearly matched her meet record in the 1600m (5:02.00) with her Montgomery Invitational mile performance (5:02.10c).
Girls 55m Hurdles - Northwest's Eddita Pessima (8.18) is rounding into shape and approaching the meet record of 8.02.
Girls 4x200, 4x400 - Blake High School (1:43.70/4:03.26) is approaching the meet records in the 4x200 (1:43.21) and 4x400 (4:00.58) relays.
