Montgomery Co. Championship Pre-Meet Program
Meet Date: October 2018
2018 County Cross Country Championships
Date: Saturday, 10-27
Location: Gaithersburg High (Bohrer Park Course)
Course Description: The course will be 5000 meters. The course is mostly flat with only one incline resembling a hill.
Two thirds of the course is grass. The athletes can run along side the path for most of the race, which will then leave only
200 meters to be run on pavement. The course won’t be remarked until October 26 th . However, the course is the same as
it’s been for the past several years and you are welcome to come over. If you think you’ll be coming over prior to race

COACHES' INTRUCTIONS
COURSE: Marked with White, Yellow and Blue lines. Also, arrows, flags, and orange cones. Runners
must negotiate all flags, markers etc. There will be course marshals at critical locations on course.
START: Runners should line up in alpha order facing south. The Starter will call teams to the line 10
minutes prior to race. There should be 4 runners in front and the remainder behind.
SCORING: We will use both computerized and video for all varsity races courtesy of MCRRC. We will time
the other races and print results but not score the meet.
1. Every runner has been assigned a number according to enclosed roster in coaches' packet. It is
important that numbers with attached chips are given to the correct runner. This assures the
accuracy of the results. Remember, only 10 runners per school are allowed in each varsity race.
2. It is not necessary to print names on the bottom of the numbers there will be labels. By now most of the
kids know about chip timing. However, it doesn't hurt to go over the process again. Please explain to
your kids how this works.
3. Coaches please purge your rosters prior to registering your runners on Athletic.net. Each chip costs
approximately $ 25.00 and by purging we lower the number of chips you will have to be responsible for.
RESULTS: Will be posted on a tent near the finish area. I believe MCRRC will up load the results as soon as
possible after each race. In addition, results will be posted on MOCOrunning.com, Athletic.net and Milesplit MD.
AWARDS: The top 10 runners in both varsity races will be recognized at the awards ceremony following the
final girl's race of the day. All other ribbons will be ponied to your schools a few days following the meet. We
will also present the division awards and the County team awards at this time.
T- SHIRTS: I think Athletic house will be doing commemorative t-shirts on site. Please inform your athletes.
Please do your best to keep your athletes out of the recreation center. Porta- Potties are available for their use
on the grounds of the park. In addition, we will have the bathrooms at the stadium open. Also remind your
athletes and parents that admission is $5.00.
Please help with the clean up by getting your athletes to clean up the area prior to leaving. Trash bags
are provided for this activity. Have a great race!
