The eventual county, region, and state champion boys team, Walter Johnson, rolled right through dual meet competition during the regular season. The Northwest girls slipped by Walter Johnson by one point in a tight meet while Walter Johnson was struggling to bring along their fifth runner.
The Wootton boys gave Richard Montgomery a scare in their first dual meet, but RM got the win with a come from behind race. It was smooth sailing from then on for the RM boys. The Wootton girls did not find much of a challenge in dual meet competition.
The boys' division title came down to a tri meet between Poolesville, Einstein, and Clarksburg who were all undefeated entering the meet. A much improved Poolesville boys team came away with the win, while the Clarksburg girls swept the division with ease.
Division IV
It appeared that the Blake boys were on the rise entering the final dual meet between the undefeated Northwood and Blake teams, but Northwood defended their turf in convincing fashion. The Northwood girls never faced a challenge in dual meet competition.
